The Paradise that Wasn’t: Refugee youth in America

Allison Myers response to my last post reminded me to share Evodie Ngoy’s short documentary film,  “The Paradise that Wasn’t.”  Evodie talked to refugee youth in Baltimore about their experiences of resettling. They told a lot of stories about not fitting in, struggling in school, struggling to make friends, but they also shared their love of soccer.  World Refugee Day was four days ago, but educating people about the challenges refugees face in America, other host countries, in refugee camps, in urban centers, and when they return to their home countries, is a 24/7/365 kind-of-job.
